Tourism Malaysia is delighted to announce the successful conclusion of the Enchanting Malaysia: Tourism Seminar & Eid Fest 2025, held on 29th April 2025 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Chennai. This exclusive event showcased Malaysia’s rich and diverse travel opportunities and fostered meaningful collaborations with key stakeholders in the travel industry.
Event Highlights:
The seminar brought together Malaysian product owners and prominent travel professionals from Southern India, creating a dynamic platform for networking and collaboration. Attendees explored exciting travel opportunities and engaged in enriching discussions aimed at further strengthening the ties between India and Malaysia.
Adding to the evening's significance was the joyous celebration of Eid, a festival symbolizing unity, gratitude, and sharing. Guests were treated to a festive atmosphere that reflected the spirit of Malaysian hospitality, featuring traditional Eid delicacies, cultural performances, and an opportunity to experience the warmth of Malaysia's multi-ethnic traditions.
Flight Connectivity:
Southern India’s robust flight connections were highlighted as a key driver of Malaysia’s tourism growth. Current connectivity includes:
• South India: 153 weekly flights
• Chennai (MAA): 40 weekly flights
• AirAsia: 14 flights
• Malaysia Airlines: 12 flights
• Indigo: 14 flights (7 to Kuala Lumpur and 7 to Penang)
Director's Address:
Mr. Hishamuddin Mustafa, Director of Tourism Malaysia Chennai, emphasized the strategic importance of the Indian market, stating:
"India has been a key market for Malaysia for over 20 years, and with the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026), we are targeting 1.6 million Indian travellers. Southern India, with its robust flight connections, is crucial to our growth strategy. This product update provides a valuable opportunity to highlight Malaysia’s appeal as a top destination for MICE, wedding tourism, and leisure travel, offering world-class infrastructure and beautiful destinations for all types of travellers."
He also noted the significance of celebrating Eid during the event, which beautifully reflected Malaysia’s spirit of unity, inclusivity, and hospitality. "The Eid Fest is a perfect example of how Malaysia’s multicultural heritage offers visitors not just a destination, but a warm and welcoming experience that resonates with diverse traditions and values."
Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026): A Monumental Milestone
The event also served as a platform to announce the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026) campaign, which will celebrate the vibrant culture, diverse landscapes, and rich heritage of Malaysia while emphasizing sustainable tourism. Tamil Nadu travelers will have the chance to discover Malaysia’s treasures, from lush rainforests and pristine beaches to dynamic cities and colorful festivals.
As part of VMY2026, Tourism Malaysia will introduce several exciting initiatives and special travel packages tailored to Tamil Nadu travelers, ensuring seamless and memorable experiences in Malaysia. Stakeholders are encouraged to join us in making VMY2026 a monumental success, further solidifying Malaysia’s position as a premier travel destination.
