Marvel Studios Officially Does A Title Swap For Its Newest Film: From Thunderbolts* To The New Avengers !
Marvel Studios, known for keeping their plot and character details cloaked in secrecy, has managed to pull a fast-one on the entire fandom by hinting at a spoiler themselves. The newest MCU blockbuster that has already been a massive hit in its opening week just got an unexpected makeover - a name change! Fans were left dumbfounded when a giant billboard of the film appeared in Los Angeles accompanied by a drastic rebranding - The New Avengers, just a week after the film’s theatrical debut. Soon after, the studio posted a video of the cast dramatically ripping the title off of the Thunderbolts* poster to reveal The New Avengers. Ticketing sites like Fandango were quick to change the title on their websites too, further certifying the name shift.
Though the asterisk in the original movie title previously caught the attention of fans, Marvel Studios wasn’t spilling any secrets. Fan speculations were rife about the meaning of the asterisk. However, fans ended up getting distracted by the flamboyant action featured in the film, not dwelling on the asterisk for too long. Now that Marvel Studios has revealed this insane name change, fans have finally managed to connect the dots as to why the asterisk was present in the first place. This dramatic mid release title swap perfectly aligns with Marvel Studios’ legacy of always keeping fans on their toes and the fandom is here for it!
Thunderbolts*, directed by Jake Schreier and produced by Kevin Feige, features Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) leading an irreverent team including Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).
Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* is now running across Indian theatres in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu
